We are excited to launch our new MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM. This program provides exclusive benefits to our MSA members. Students can benefit from receiving discounts on our events, participating in our elections and receive discounts from local restaurants and businesses!

  1. How do I get a discount at a restaurant?

Great question! Simply present your membership card along with your student ID when paying for your purchase and the employee will apply the selected discount

  2. A business did not give me the discount, what should I do?

We are sorry to hear that! Please e-mail externalrelations@ummsa.ca with a detailed account of your experience. We will ensure that we address your concern and reconcile any miscommunication that occurred between us and our business partners.

  3. How do I know how much discount I will receive?

The discounts for each restaurant or business is listed in the more information section under the business logos. Discounts range from 10-20%. 

  4. Why are hookah and hookah products excluded from the discount?

As a Muslim organization, we cannot endorse products or actions that do not reflect appropriately of the Islamic guidelines that our organization abides. 

  5. I forgot my student ID, will I still get my discount?

Unfortunately, both the membership card and student ID must be present to receive the discount. 

  6. Why do I have to pay for the membership card?

I’m glad you asked! We are a large student group that caters to more than 3000 students on campus. We charge a minimal fee for our membership card in order to create financial stability so that we can support high quality and more events for YOU! The card can easily be paid off if you attend 2 of our events. Don’t forget all the other benefits to our membership. Help us make the MSA great for YOU!

  7. Why do I have to be a member to vote for the elections?

In the past, many people became members only at the time of elections to solely support their friends during elections. Albeit great, we take Islamic leadership very seriously! We want committed members who buy into our membership and attend our events to be a part of the elections process so that deserving candidates are nominated and appointed.

  8. Where can I buy a membership card?

We will be selling them at the beginning of the year at our back to school BBQ and our first General Body Meeting. After then, you can purchase them at our jumuas. If you are unable to find an executive to purchase the membership, please e-mail externalrelations@ummsa.ca to get your card!

  9. I am an ICM student. Am I able to benefit from the MSA membership card?

Yes! Our membership card is for both UofM and ICM students. Businesses are aware of your presence. Please ensure you present your ICM student ID along with your membership card in order to receive discounts.

 

  10. What happens if I lose my card?

That's not an issue, just contact externalrelations@ummsa.ca and we will replace your card for a $5 fee.
